This summer we took our students on a guided tour of Venice. We left Florence in the early morning and took a private coach to Piazzale Roma. Our first adventure was a gondola ride. Our group took five gondolas for a tour of the city's waterways. We weaved through the smaller, quieter canals into the bustling Grand Canal full of gondolas, ferries, and speed boats. It was the perfect way to start a beautiful day in Venice. After the gondola ride we took a private tour around Venice to discover the city's hidden gems before moving on to more famous sites like the Rialto Bridge and the Doge Palace and Bell Tower in Piazza San Marco. After lunch we sat in on a Murano glass blowing demonstration. Students watched in awe as a small ball of glass was transformed into a vase within 3-4 minutes! We indulged in Venetian history, culture, and cuisine and students had an afternoon of free time to explore the city on their own.
