Firenze Marathon 2010
The Florence Marathon is, together with those of Venice, Rome and Milan, one of the most important international marathons in Italy and among the top 20 in the world in terms of number of participants (about 5,000) including a great many foreigners.
The Florence Marathon course is set in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and passes those monuments and sites that have made Florence famous in the world.
The marathon starts from the beautiful scenic terrace of Piazzale Michelangiolo and wends its way half through the old town center and partly through the Parco delle Cascine. The circuit touch the most fascinating places in Florence: Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, and at the end the majestic Piazza Santa Croce.
The route is appreciated by all athletes, there are no changes in elevation and the weather is usually excellent. It is part of the official international marathon schedule, certified by AIMS and recognized by the IAAF.
Also fot the 2010 is confirmed the presence of the pace-maker, the "competition assistant", that will take position on the starting grid, with the reference time marked on the back and with baloons of different coloros on the basis of the time slot. The time slot scheduled are: 3h00' - 3h15' - 3h30' - 3h45' - 4h00' - 4h15' - 4h30' - 4h45' - 5h00'.
The athlete welcome center, Firenze Marathon Expo, will be open in the days before the event and is the distribution point for chest numbers and race packets, becoming a true meeting place for athletes or those who just love this "open air" sport.

Firenze Marathon Expo is located inside Florence's new Luigi Ridolfi sports stadium which can be reached by bus or train, thanks to the extremely close Campo di Marte train station.
